Outdoor Recreation is a key pillar for Eastern Oregon - This relies on healthy landscapes, high quality and well-maintained trails, and having high quality trail information available to visitors.

EOVA is the regional destination management organization, with a mission to develop, market and promote the Eastern Oregon region as a destination for visitors to enhance regional economic vitality and the quality of life for all residents.

More people are coming to Eastern Oregon, and many are coming to recreate outside. While some subregions have seen increased visitation in the last 5 years, COVID-19 brought a spike in visitors as well. Meanwhile, land managers do not have funds to maintain non-motorized trails. Higher use is causing some negative impacts to trails and the natural environment, visitor experience, and some surrounding communities.

In winter and spring 2021, EOVA will lead several engagement activities with outdoor recreation stakeholders.
